Graduation! Cheesecake!! iPad!!!

It has been a while since my last entry. Why? Well, I have been very busy with my last semester of college. This semester, I had to take 17 credits in order to finish my undergraduate degree by the end of the year. I took two online classes, two modernist literature classes, and a really cool and interesting class that I can't really name -- it's too small of a class that anyone who Google searches it would end up finding this blog... And I'd rather avoid that. It was a really fun class, though, compared to all of my other ones.

Overall, my classes this semester gave me sooo much combined work that I was somehow writing at least one or two essays nearly every week. By the end of this semester, I had written at least five 6-page papers and more than ten 2-3-page papers. I guess I shouldn't be complaining since I'm studying English... that's like a math major complaining about having so many problems to solve. Butchu gotta complain, mang.

Anyway, the point is that I'm really really really

Cake pops... or cake flops?

Back in June this year, I tried to make cake pops for dessert. The materials came in a kit from the grocery store and it seemed simple enough, but somehow the cake pops ended up as cake... flops. The chocolate did not melt well at all and burned to a crisp, the cake balls kept sliding off of the stick thingies... but at least it tasted a bit good, I think. It was very sweet and frosted! :)

Ducks and LASIK

My family and I went out today. While the rest of my family went to the mall, Papa, my sister, and I went to a LASIK clinic downtown for my sister's post-surgery checkup. The building where the clinic is situated in is very fancy. At the center of the building, the main hall branches off into little corridors in all directions, but if you look upwards past all the other floors, there's a little window!

Posh.

I hate halloween and school is boring

pocketful of stars - poupeegirl
Trick or treat :B
It's midway through the term and I already feel very tired and irritated with school. Even though I'm in my final semester of college, it doesn't feel like I'm getting any nearer to the end at all. Every week is just the same blardyblah work —

Monday: hasty open-book Intro to Art quiz.
Tuesday: religious ethics class discussion without having read the chapter.
Wednesday: manual writing with senses dulled to sloth-like speed.
Thursdays: sparknotes+cliffnotes+pinkmonkey combo before British lit quiz.
Fridays: ...already?

And everything just repeats from Sunday 11:59 PM onward. Except some weeks have the added bonus of nerve-cracking oral presentations or 4-page essays... which aren't really that long or difficult to write but are just bleh too much needless effort and brain usage involved. For example, I have midterm exams tomorrow and next week for my two literature classes, and it's a weird feeling because I'm not getting clammy palms of dread or whatnot like I usually do before an exam... Instead, I just feel very...

sigh... I need to work up the motivation to re-read all the Sparknotez books we were assigned for the exam. I guess that means I must slog through Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man once more, or at least skim through some of the protagonist's more important (but also excruciatingly self-important) monologues in the novel.

Or I could just not, I guess.

Because really, it often seems to be like that, where you study a lot but end up getting a worse grade than you expected... whereas there are times when you don't study at all and get a surprisingly high grade... :D!

I dunno... it looked right in my head, for some reason. :<

Anyway, I really need to go study and then sleep... or maybe just head straight to sleep hurhur... so good-night and good-bye.

TRUE ARTISTIC ART~

I'm not a freshman, but this semester I'm taking an Introduction to Art course. The only reason I took this class to begin with was because it was 4 credits and online, so I'm not a very motivated student in this particular subject... But we had to make a collage as our first project, so I thought I would post it here since I'm done with it!

Aren't the hands creepy? Even though it looks really silly and simple, it took a long time to make for an art n00blet like me. I had to sift through lots of newspapers and old people magazines and hunt down anti-wrinkle and weight loss ads and cut out phrases like SAY HELLO TO A NEW FACE or GO OUT WITHOUT MY COVERGIRL ON—ARE YOU CRAZY? It was a little depressing, to be honest.

But hmm, I think I'm pretty satisfied with the result, if I do say so myself, ho ho.

... I really want to know if there's any way of tacking on "if I do say so myself" to the end of your sentence and not sounding like an arrogant buffoon.

Draw Something!

I play under the username AppleSheep. Let's play! (?)

I play an iPhone app called Draw Something. You choose one word from a list of three words, draw it out as a picture on the screen, and then send it to your opponent, who has to guess what the original word is! It's a pleasant way to pass the time every now and then, especially if you play with people who put even a little effort into their drawings!

Pirate Galaxy Memories

Earlier this summer I played a browser-based spaceship game called Pirate Galaxy with my sister. It was quite fun; you could pilot your own spaceship, and the storyline was decent! At one point, we were very avid players of the game, but I think we've pretty much lost interest in it. I'd rather not ruin my fond memories of PG by thinking of how grind-y it was and how irritating it was to gather energy globules in the middle of every mission. D:<

I do feel kind of sad that we don't play anymore. Maybe someday I will go back just to see the rest of the storyline.

Summer classes again

I haven't written here in a while again... that's because I've been busy with Fall classes and internship stuff. It's now summer classes, though I barely had a week of vacation... OTL. why me sad.

If you're wondering why my thoughts are more jumbled than usual, it's because I'm writing this on my phone and from my sister's office; the room is kind of dim and giving me a headache, and I feel very bored.

I've just finished my I/O psychology class... it's kind of exhausting because it's 2 hours straight... but it's not as bad as my Drugs & Behavior class tomorrow, which lasts for 3 hours... blegh.

Oh, I wanted to share what I've been recently been listening to during class. It's a track called Recollection III from the Bleach Diamond Dust Rebellion soundtrack:

You have to wait until a bit later in the track for the nice part. :)

Well, that's it. Bye~

School update + Guild Wars 2 blog

Hello! I haven't posted in a while again, but what to do... School work is getting very intense at this time of the semester. Did you know? I will be doing a REAL, ACTUAL INTERNSHIP over the summer! They haven't yet told me what company or work I'll be assigned to, but they should be sending word to me sometime this week. *hyperventilates* I'm really more scared than excited... and I would rather not think about it right now because it just stresses me out needlessly.

Also, I have a very important announcement that must be made right now: At this point in time, there are only two weeks of school left! ಠ_ಠ

Yes, WOWOWOWOWOWOW... is my reaction, too. I can't believe it... it really did not feel like we were nearing the end of the semester at all. I must have a bad sense of time or something, but whatever, I guess it's not important. After these last two weeks of school, I only have two short weeks of vacation to enjoy before returning to stinkin' summer school. URGHH. Well, as a wise person once told me, you gotta do watchu gotta do... So I suppose I have no choice but to put up with it until I'm through... *dramatic sigh*

The other thing I wanted to write about today is my shiny new Guild Wars 2 blog. :) Since I may be playing GW2 pretty soon (hopefully, assuming it will run on my computer), I made a blog to document all of my adventures~! I had been thinking about just covering it on this blog, but then I thought it would get cluttered and flooded with GW2 posts, and really this blog is supposed to be about my daily life moreso than gaming.

Anyway, if you would like to follow me on my GW2 adventures, go to guild-wars-two.blogspot.com ! :) I will be sure to get a screenshot grabber thingy so that I can flood the interwebz with pics of my character document my exciting and compelling journey through Tyria. Beta weekends are supposed to be coming up soon, so I will try to find some time to play and write about my experience. :)

Well, I need to get ready for school now... so bye bye!

♫ Do you have an iHover ♪♫~ Everyone needs an iHover~ ♪♬

It's been a busy semester! Recently, especially, I've been so swamped with project deadlines from multiple classes that I haven't had that much time to have fun or even sleep. I've had papers to write for my psych class, Adobe After Effects to learn for a design class, and scholarly journal articles to read and analyze for another class. Everything seemed to zoom by at breakneck speed, and it felt like I really couldn't keep up! Things have since settled down a bit, so I'm relaxing just a bit and trying hard to not think about the not one but at least four upcoming projects that have just been introduced, yup, right after we just finished all these other long and difficult projects.

Happy birthday to... mama, me, papa, and my brother!

Whee~ I've been wanting to write about this for a while! Every year, late February and early March have a clustery cluster of birthdays in our household. First is Mama's birthday, then mine a week later, then Papa's a week later, and then my little brother's two weeks after. Needless to say, there is a lot of special food cooking, present buying, cake eating, and picture snapping during these weeks, so it makes for some rather pleasant days all around. It's been a while...

...since I last wrote an entry. I've been really busy with schoolwork these past few weeks. First, I had a big memo report to write for one of my classes, and even though it was interesting, it became really annoying and difficult to complete because I procrastinated until the very end. :/ Then, for another class, I had to work on two projects simultaneously: I had to redesign my website (the one for school) and format my portfolio in HTML, and do this one other project that I won't mention (because that project is very distinctive and would easily, easily turn up on Google search results ~_~) but nonetheless was also challenging.

Wow! Photoshop is amazing! ... and kinda freakish ಠ_ಠ

In one of my design classes, I'm learning how to use Photoshop to manipulate images in different ways: resizing images without cropping them, removing wrinkles and spots from photographs, completely editing out entire objects or persons, etc. It's fun! lol. And it's really cool, but I'm also starting to feel like it's kinda freakish. ಠ_ಠ Every time I finish one of the practice exercises in my textbook, I'm simultaneously excited and shocked. I know it's 2012 and computer technologiez are so advanced and whatnot, but I still can't wrap my head around some of the stuff PS does.

Wow. I guess I really am an old lady when it comes to these things... ??

I feel accomplished!

I finally finished working on my website. It is a project for one of my classes; I have to summarize a certain essay from an author, and then select ten sentences from the essay and make a separate page for each sentence, as well as find pictures that sort of correspond to each sentence. Well, it sounds really simple and easy, but I had to build it from scratch using (x)html and CSS, and when I first started the project, I knew next to nothing about working with those languages. (゚Д゚≡゚Д゚) I started looking up bits and pieces of information, like how to style a paragraph's font and color using html, but everything I did was very patchwork and... stupid. The way I was going about it would have made for way too much work for myself in the future. In class, I learned how to make a website fully and smartly. Mama always tells me "Don't work hard, work smart," so I somehow felt happy that I was able to learn and finish everything in a better way.

Interwebs wars? oAo

Wowowowoooo!

Right now, even as I type, there is a war of the interwebz going on between hacktivists (hacker activitists) and the U.S. government. In response to the U.S. Department of Justice shutting down Megaupload.com for copyright infringements, thousands of hackers in the group "Anonymous" are now shutting down important government and corporation websites. According to Anonymous's twitter, there are about 5,635 hackers participating in this whole thing, and so far (at the time I'm writing this), they've shut down the websites of:
  1. U.S. Department of Justice
  2. Recording Industry Association of America
  3. Motion Picture Association of America
  4. Universal Music
  5. U.S. Copyright Office
  6. Warner Brothers
  7. FBI
It's really exciting to watch everything play out on the twitter feeds! I feel half in awe of Anonymous and half kind of scared for them; they can really get into a lot of trouble! -A-

Apparently, at one point, #OpMegaupload was trending on Twitter, but Twitter quickly censored that.

+/- ?

Lately, I've been feeling gloomy and pessimistic a lot. It's hard to pinpoint where exactly all of this negativity is coming from, and in a way, I think it's actually a combination of many things/factors/events. If I had to make a list of what's been bothering me recently, it would look something like this (descending order):
  1. having to go back to school.
  2. the negativity on the websites I've been lurking around.
  3. feeling like I'm not excelling in writing poems/stories or drawing.
